The Woman in the Water ~ from the Voyage of the Coração

Though the sea is quiet
he sees an ocean in turmoil
The sky is clement
yet his heart sees sorrow

Her face is pulled by the undertow
Her screaming visage dragged away from the beach
Her slender frame clutched by roiling thugs
creatures of froth and sand and broken shells tumbling

If Time flows like a river
this is the ocean where those rivers run
This is Eternity Beach
where lost souls are blown like sea foam
This is the place where he chooses to let his inner darkness
paint the sky and waves

Perhaps in this grasping at shadows
he can find some echo of his younger self
Perhaps he can bleed some of his torment away
And her name is on his lips. . .
