A Maid Alas ~ In the Land of V’rata Cijena

Hehcren has not cleaned her hearth today
Nor cleaned the webs and shadows from the ceiling
She has not tended the fires nor washed her hands

He is leaving today
taking all the color of the world with him
Taking all the air from the sky
because she labors so to breathe
Uil’yam is leaving

She wants to say
“Please don’t go
I want you to stay
How will I stay warm
with no one here to hold me?”

“How can you say
you’re leaving today?
You showed me how to dance
when I could barely stumble. . .”

“Please don’t go
I want you to stay
How will I find comfort
with no one here to talk to?”

Hehcren has not cleaned her hearth today
Nor cleaned the webs and shadows from the ceiling
She has not tended the fires nor washed her hands

Uil’yam is leaving today
taking all the song from hearts of every nation
Taking all the tears to the shoreline of the sea
because she longs for him to stay
