On the Craft of Crafting Fantasy

Hit scan on the radio
anything to wake me up
because the noise of the rain
keeps trying to put me into the other lane

This far from home
I’ve no wish to kill innocent strangers

Oh God, not talk radio. . .
No, wait
the guy is asking the other guy about writing fantasy

Really good fantasy is not escape lit
There has to be some element of accessibility for the reader
On some level you have to believe that things happening in the story
could actually happen. . .”

“Fantasy is a parallel reality
A miashup of things you may have seen
or thing you have always wanted to see
or. . . or you’re afraid to see.
A lens
a color filter of words
Cool, words and images that you adopt to color your reality.”

“In some ways Fantasy is more real that real
A truer truth than fact
I find that when I’m writing Fantasy I’m reaching out beyond reality
Going to Strange Lands on the far side the boundaries
and who do you find when you go on adventures?
You always find yourself.”
