In every little girl there is a window

In every little girl
there is a window
that opens on the world

And it is often the case
that the little girl will reflect
on that window

If you look from the outside
you will see little except your own reflection
because it is always darker inside the room behind her smile

and this is right and proper
in most places
including the south

And in every little girl
there is a wish
for a story . . .

Sometimes a story of adventure
sometimes a story of Love
and well . . . sometimes a story dark
and these stories are projected on the windows

and this is right and proper
in most places
including the north

But in some cases
for reasons that are just not reasonable
the window gets broken
and i wish i knew why this happens
but i don’t
can’t
it makes no sense

This is never right
Nor is it ever proper
Anywhere
