Burnsian poetry

Burnsian poetry
(well the good parts anyway)
is at its core
about feelings that are totally outside
the context of words

It seeks a common emotional symphony
is offered like bait on hooks
to pull feeling in the reader
to the surface

Burnsian poetry
should be blurted
should be coughed
should flow like water
from your mouth

It knows that all our tears
will make not one inch of difference in the  sea
knows that in the scale of the World
mine is but a small sorrow
