winter rain

remember
the gathered cold of hundreds of years
soaking your umbrella
(honest
i still have your umbrella)

wet leaves curling in this winter wind
grey-ghost bird-wings slapping against my legs
like remembered insults

my hand shaking in the cold
i open a door in my heart
and summer fireflies cascade from my hands
