falling angels

when angels fall
they make a horrible sound
a sound of children screaming
metal rending
an the impact. . .
totally atomic

Emberfaken fell from the sky last night
and no one can truly know why a merciful God casts his angels down

a human man would have died
would have relinquished he soul to the promise of a Heaven
would have given up. . .

Emberfaken drags himself from the smoking debris of his sky ship
dragging his useless feet and numb right arm
like memories that once had purpose

he crawls from the muck of the lake
filthy
broken
hurt beyond all understanding
