memory does not serve

This memory does not serve you

Chanting your name
Touching the echo of your face
Wishing to any god that will hear my. . .
I say to myself
This memory does not serve you

Has disappointment turned me?
Have the shadows in the dark chambers of my heart
oozed from my pores
into this pewter grey day?

This memory does not serve me. . .
