desperation makes for strange bedfellows – Post Modern Romance

There is this story

its about a man and a woman
who meet
but they didn’t really meet
and she wanted him
wanted in him in the worst way

so of course
she refused to tell him about what she wanted
and when he didn’t start something with her
she got upset

wasn’t he a guy
and she sure was a girl
so why didn’t he want her
the way she wanted him
and why didn’t he get a real job
and his own apartment?

now as it turns out
he did want her
but she kept on talking about being friends
and how she was going to sue this guy at work for sexual harassment
and how no-one understood her moods and her complex sense of humour

and he got tired of the way she kept going around in rhetorical circles
engaging in a kind of daisy chain logic
that tended to tie anyone near her in Gordian Knots

talking with her got to be just like sticking his fingers
in one of those Chinese finger traps
but he was bored
so what the heck. . .

they often spent time together on the couch
totally ignoring each other by looking at their smart phones
like they had all the time in the world

desperation makes for strange bedfellows
