now cold and dark

in the sience of tears on my coat-sleve
in the darkness out on the jetti
that comes after the amber sun falls away from the world
in the cold-darkness of finding myself

i balance on the  knife edge
twine through my twilight soul
knowing my measure of love and fear

i contemplate the darkening sky
knowing the full depth of the coming darkness
knowing without proof that it will give birth to new light tomorrow
knowing nothing at all

the water
once warm and birght as broken glass
now dark and cold

a gull cries to its mate
there is no answer
