perhaps silence is the strongest poem

perhaps silence is the strongest poem
perchance the best songs are sung by the mind

perhaps this blank page holds the potential
is the riverbed
where spring rains will write my soul
perchance the taste of the poem
held back by the teeth
is the more bitter sweet

but when two zen masters meet in the forest
words are forsworn
and each might know the other
without pouring everything from the mouth

there is a poem i have longed for
written in the eyes of the poetess
but alack
it is a poem without words

and so i should have left this moment to silence
for perhaps silence is the better monument to this moment
