After the Storm

Her redolence lingers
Provoking an uncontrolled shiver

Memories of her sheets
And that sudden hungry/frightened look in her eyes
“Hold me.”
and I held her
Safe in that tender moment

The fever abated
flowed out of her
Flowed out of me

Quiet in the silence
After the storm
our breath is our song
