consider love

The Soul is seen through the eyes
Heard in a sigh

Is touched with a kiss
Like Love – never dies
never alone
but never alike

i have known far too many nights alone

the Lady of the Moon (and her crazed sister – Love)
called me to her service
then left me for dead

once i was a stone
and she called to the warmth in my still molten core
called to my feet and my hands
forged me in the likeness of a hero

and i fought the war i never wanted
fought with honor and style
fought and won

having exceeded my use
having the bad grace to survive
having the scars. . .
she picked me up and cast me away like a stone
(tried to see if i would skip across the waters
she has such simple pleasures)

so here i am cradled in cold muck
not unlike ten thousand stones lining the river bed

never alone
but never alike

consider love
