An End to Naming?

The old man lifts his hand
A gesture asking for a silence

“Let there be an end to words.”
He says
“While words can be useful tools
The really important things never get said.”

She says
“How can we communicate
If we don’t use words?”

He smiles
Then cries
Then looks somewhat perplexed

He spins
Takes her hand and they dance
Now he’s panting
He is old after all
She laughs

He uses his magic wand
To draw zen drawings in the sand
He gestures with his arms so wide
They encompass the entire sky

She says
“I need words.”

He says
“I know
And I guess words are not so bad
But you must understand
Words are only a part of an ever expanding world.”
