Post-Modern Mythos

In mythology there is a monster
A monster that eats everything

Oh it starts out small enough
it drinks your wine
then it eats your diner
but that is not enough
never enough

A monster that sucks up smoke
and sucks up pills
it drinks the streams and then the sky
it eats up the whole world
the Sun and the Moon
but that is not enough

it eats everything
until there is nothing left
but the monster
but the world was not enough
the sky and the universe were not enough
never enough

finally it eats itself
leaving only a sick smile . . .
